Nurses no longer wear the proverbial cap, but men and women of the nursing profession certainly wear many metaphorical hats. For the numerous tasks that our nurses deftly perform on a daily basis, THA Group salutes them this week: National Nurse’s Week.
Whether our patients need occasional skilled nursing assistance following a hospital stay or around the clock end-of-life hospice care, our nurses are on the front line of making sure our patients’ needs are met. The extent to which our nurses serve THA Group’s patients is immeasurable. These professionals don’t simply pay a visit to a patient’s home to give a quick needle stick, bandage a wound, and collect a few vital signs. They are frequently care managers, coordinating all of a patients’ needs that may include physical therapy, social work, a dietitian and more. Furthermore, they are teachers, empowering our patients with wellness tools to use long after immediate nursing services are no longer needed. At THA Group, the Chinese proverb is a truism: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
The greatest gift our nurses provide to our patients, however, is a small part of themselves. Because THA Group provides health care in patients’ homes, our nurses have to forge delicate bonds of trust with those they serve and also numerous family members, too.
Our nurses often receive letters of praise from patients whom we have served. This is just one example of the unquantifiable nature of the care they provide: “[She] was one of the most amazing people I have ever met. She not only provided care to my mom, but her ‘shoulder’ was always there for me and my son. She cares for the family, not just the patient. The care my mom received from her was the best ever since she had since her stroke in 2003.”
57 individuals comprise THA Group’s nursing staff, from corporate executives to specialized nursing care and everything in between. We’ve created this brief slide show to bring you “the face” of THA Group nursing. If you see one of these men or women, give them a special thanks this week for all they do.
