“I’m a Survivor!”

National Cancer Survivor’s Day is this Sunday, June 3.  To all who have been through the battle (both patients and their loved ones), THA Group salutes you.  You are strong and brave; you are warriors!

Around our coastal South Carolina and Georgia communities, there are some free events to celebrate cancer warriors and help them to be vigilant against this most unwelcome disease.

For the Body:
In Savannah, the Center for Advanced Medicine at Memorial University Medical Center offers free yoga classes to cancer patients and survivors on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm and Thursdays at 12:10 pm. Call 912-350-9031 for more information.

For the Mind:
Also in Savannah, The Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion offers a free, six week workshop designed specifically to help cancer survivors make the transition from active treatment to post-treatment care.  For more details call 912-819-5704.

For the Spirit (this Sunday only):
In Beaufort, The Beaufort Memorial Keyserling Cancer Center Expressions of a Cancer Journey Art Competition and Exhibition will be on display. This is a biennial competition, presented by Eli Lilly Oncology and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS). People who were diagnosed with any type of cancer – as well as their families, friends, caregivers and healthcare providers – are invited to express, through art and narrative, the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journeys meaning. Call 843-522-5585.
